Do you love nature and wildlife? Do you enjoy walking and relaxing in a natural setting? If you answered yes to these questions, then you should definitely check out the Celery Farm. The Celery Farm is a 107-acre freshwater wetland in Allendale, New Jersey, that is a haven for more than 250 species of birds and many other creatures and plants . It is open to the public every day of the year from dawn to dusk, and it offers a short, easy walk for families and nature lovers.

The Celery Farm has a fascinating history and a diverse ecology. In addition to once being a celery-growing area in the late 1800s and early 1900s, which gave it its name, it also served as a cranberry farm, an ice harvesting site, and a duck hunting ground. In the 1950s, it faced the threat of development, but thanks to the efforts of local conservationists and the Fyke Nature Association, it was saved as a natural sanctuary. Today, it is co-managed by the Fyke Nature Association and the Borough of Allendale.

The Celery Farm has three main trails that circle around the wetland and connect with each other. The trails are well-marked and easy to follow. They are mostly flat and grassy, with some boardwalks and bridges over the water. The trails are about 1.5 miles long in total, and they can be done in less than an hour. Along the way, you can admire the scenic views of the pond, the marsh, and the surrounding woods. You can also observe various birds, such as ospreys, herons, egrets, ducks, geese, swans, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, warblers, and more . You might also encounter other wildlife, such as turtles, frogs, snakes, deer, foxes, beavers, muskrats, and more.

The Celery Farm is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year, but especially in spring and fall when the bird migration is at its best. You can also enjoy the changing colors of the leaves and the flowers. The Celery Farm is a popular destination for birdwatchers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts of all ages . It is a peaceful and beautiful refuge that offers a refreshing break from the urban stress and noise.
