A thought for all those “wonderful” decision makers at the state parks. The next time that you are trying to be helpful and fill in the unpaved paths for use, consider this for a moment. Put down something any human being with an ounce of common sense would want to walk on for any amount of distance.
This may sound negligible to the average walker, but anyone who has done any type of hiking and distance walking will understand the sentiment. Below is what I think the thought process is for the park decision makers.
“Hey guys. Let’s all just go out and see what is the worst garbage we can put down to recover the trail that is filled with brick and rocks and everything to make it more difficult to walk on a walking path.”
Then when they find this trash heap or put it together from the remains of other sections that were actually fixed, they say to themselves, “You know what that’s perfect. Let’s choose that.”
Thank you for bearing with the little rant and if you’re so inclined, write the parks departments in your local areas. In the event that falls on deaf ears, there are so many wonderful parks out there to choose from that haven’t been poorly maintained, so choose one of those and avoid these. Why pay and support these parks that are too cheap to use that money to give back to the people who use the park.
Happy walking everyone!!!
